Upstream Arts residencies invite individuals with disabilities into a multidisciplinary arts curriculum designed to strengthen social emotional learning. Our Teaching Artists work with and alongside participants and staff once a week in creative activities that seamlessly mix theatre, dance, painting, poetry, and music. We might Paint the Music, have a Drum Conversation, or choreograph a Poem Dance while we practice listening, observing, and exploring how rhythm and movement effect our emotions. Each time we practice different creative languages, we are learning new ways to tell our own stories – and new ways to listen to the stories of others.
Upstream Arts residencies can provide a lifetime of arts learning experiences and personal growth for individuals of all abilities, from birth to retirement. Click on any of the below photos/descriptions to read more about each model.
